Sara & Brandon’s Honeymoon in Edinburgh, Captured on 35mm Film

Edinburgh photographer captures atmospheric photo of a couple on their honeymoon.

When Sara first reached out, she and her fiancé were just about to get married in Paris. They had travelled to Europe from New York and were planning to spend their honeymoon exploring Scotland. A few days later, while they were adventuring through the Isle of Skye, Sara messaged me again. This time asking if I could photograph them on their final stop: Edinburgh. Her only request? Analogue photos only.

I immediately said yes.

This was my first ever session shot entirely on film. No digital safety net, no instant previews. As analogue photographers know, film forces you to slow down and connect deeply with the moment. Every frame becomes intentional and every shot meaningful.

Shooting 35mm Film in Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a dream for 35mm film photographers. Its moody light, soft mist, and timeless architecture make it one of the most photogenic cities in the world.

For Sara and Brandon’s shoot, we started at the Vennel for the views of the Edinburgh Castle, then walked to the Dean Village and ended up on Circus Lane, the most charming lane in Edinburgh. The way 35mm film rendered autumnal colours and textures on that foggy, overcast day, was nothing short of magical.

If you’re drawn to the grain and tones of analogue photos, booking a 35mm film photographer in Edinburgh is truly a one of a kind experience.

Why a Post-Wedding Session Is Worth It

One of the best things about booking a post-wedding or honeymoon photoshoot is the freedom it gives you. There’s no rush, no timeline to follow – just time to be together and enjoy the experience. Shooting on a different day means we can choose locations that truly inspire you, wait for the right light, and adjust plans if the Scottish weather decides to surprise us.

This flexibility is especially valuable for analogue photography, where light, pace, and mood all play a huge part in creating timeless images. Without the pressure of a tight schedule, we can be more intentional. It is important when taking the time to compose each frame, to notice the small gestures, and to let your story unfold naturally on 35mm film. Whether you’re newly married, or simply celebrating your love, a post wedding analogue session in Edinburgh or anywhere in Scotland is a beautiful way to capture that.

Why I’m Offering Analogue Only Sessions

This shoot reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. The process of shooting on film is slower, more thoughtful, and incredibly rewarding. There’s no rushing, no over shooting, just trust, observation and connection.

Because of this, I’m now offering analogue only photography sessions for couples, engagements, and post-wedding shoots. Whether you’re visiting from abroad or you are local to Scotland, I’d love to craft a story with you that feels timeless.
