Elope to Edinburgh – a stunning backdrop for city elopement

Is there any better backdrop for wedding photos than majestic Scottish hills? Hannah & Nick have have travelled from Canada for their Edinburgh elopement in the Autumn. We met in the Holyrood Park with a humanist celebrant, Linda Keys, and walked up the hill for the wedding ceremony. This is my favourite location for wedding vows with a view of Arthur’s Seat in the background.

Wedding ceremony in the Holyrood Park is easy to arrange. You will need a permission from Historic Environment Scotland and it is easy to obtain. My usual meeting point is a little kiosk in the car parking at Queens Drive, from here we can walk 5 minutes up the hill called Haggis Knowe for amazing views of the Edinburgh city including the Castle and Arthur’s Seat.

The Holyrood Park is for sure one the best places for a ceremony and wedding photos in Edinburgh, with a range of hills and glens, small lochs and dramatic cliffs, yellow gorse in the Summer and majestic city skyline. I really love coming here in the Spring and Autumn and I am really excited about elopements this year!

The second location for outdoor elopements in Edinburgh is St Anthony’s Chapel, historical ruins a bit further up the hill. It is a little busier though and a bit more difficult to reach. I will be posting a few photos from Arthur’s Seat elopements soon 🙂
