Scottish Borders wedding photographer
I love coming back to the Scottish Borders as a wedding photographer. Undiscovered by tourists and unspoilt yet, it is not so busy as the rest of the country. I’ve photographed a few weddings there and they were always beautiful family celebrations.
One of them was Rachel and Fraser’s farm wedding in Hawick. The ceremony took place in St Mary’s church and it was raining all day long. Despite poor weather the couple was enjoying their day in a beautifully planned celebrations. Fraser had four ushers and one of them was David. And now I was back in the Scottish Borders to photograph his wedding.
Farm wedding photos
It was a warm day on the last Saturday of May. I dropped off my assisting wedding photographer at groom’s home and drove to Fauhope House near Merlose where Rosalyn was getting ready. Bridal preparations is one of my favourite moments of the day; it’s a good time to get the most natural and relaxed wedding photos. Rosalyn was a beautiful bride and she chose corset wedding dress from Wendy Makin with a long veil.
When I arrived at the farm later, I was stunned. The garden, wedding ceremony location, was lovely and there was a massive marquee standing on the grounds with inspiring views over hills. Carla @Dash Design helped with wedding design: there were laurel leaf place names on the tables among the other rustic style wedding decorations. Farm weddings offer so many ideas for a unique wedding reception! Drinks were served from the tractor shovel and canapes were beautifully arranged with seasonal flowers. I could confirm I really love family farm weddings.
There were many exciting moments during the day but it was the evening that I will remember the most thanks to incredible wedding band, Hip Operation, who traveled from Newcastle. That was a great day and I am so looking forward to coming back to the Scottish Borders this summer.
