Studio 54 wedding | Angus Wedding Photographer
If you’re planning a colourful, music filled celebration and looking for an Angus wedding photographer, this Studio 54 inspired wedding is full of ideas. From glittering disco outfits to candid moments captured on 35mm film, it was a day that celebrated personality, friendship and having as much fun as possible.
Studio 54 Inspired Wedding in Angus, Scotland
As a Scotland wedding photographer, I love weddings where couples create a day that feels completely their own, and this one certainly did. Rather than following tradition, the couple built their wedding around something they both love – music. Their theme was inspired by the iconic Studio 54 nightclub, with guests encouraged to embrace colourful 70s disco outfits which included sequins, flared trousers and plenty of sparkle. The result was a celebration that felt more like an incredible party than a formal wedding. Rather than worrying about perfection, they focused on creating an atmosphere where everyone could simply enjoy themselves.
Capturing the day on 35mm Film
Alongside digital photography, I photographed parts of the day on 35mm film, adding another layer to the storytelling.
Film photography has a softness and character that’s difficult to recreate digitally. The grain, colours and occasional imperfections perfectly suited the vintage disco theme, making the photographs feel timeless while complementing the nostalgic Studio 54 styling. For couples planning a 35mm film wedding, film works especially well for portraits, candid moments and all those little details that make your wedding unique.
Festival style wedding vibes
Although held at a beautiful Scottish home, the atmosphere felt much closer to a festival style wedding than a traditional celebration. There was laughter throughout the day, guests dressed exactly as the couple had hoped, and a real sense that everyone had been invited to one enormous party rather than a formal event. These are the weddings I love documenting most, where genuine moments happen naturally because everyone feels comfortable enough to simply enjoy the day.

Documentary Wedding Photography in Angus and across Scotland
As a documentary Scotland wedding photographer, my approach is to capture real moments as they unfold rather than directing every scene. Whether you’re planning a colourful Studio 54 wedding, a relaxed festival celebration, or an intimate coastal wedding, my goal is to create photographs that feel authentic to you. If you’re looking for an Angus wedding photographer who also photographs on 35mm film, I’d love to hear about your plans.
