Melville Castle – wedding venue near Edinburgh
I just have to share this beautiful photo story of the couple who travelled from the Caribbean to get married in Scotland. Molly & Byron were living and working on a boat at that time and planning their destination wedding from overseas. Their families and friends travelled all the way from America to Scotland to spend some unforgettable days celebrating together at the Melville Castle.
Melville is a lovely mansion just outside Edinburgh. A hotel with good transport links to the city and venue with many opportunities for great wedding photos. I worked as a wedding photographer at Melville wedding before, most recently when Brooke & Chris’ got married there in October 2016. The colours and light in the Autumn were so beautiful and I was happy to return in the summer to experience working at the castle during different season. It is a great wedding for smaller weddings and elopements.
Scottish wedding with Caribbean theme
Both bride and groom were getting ready at the hotel and most of the guests were staying there as well. Molly was wearing strapless crochet lace bohemian style dress from Daughters of Simone and she decided to go barefoot. Bridesmaids – bride’s beautiful sisters – were dressed in shades of blue matching with blue flower bouquets from Narcissus. This family was so beautiful. The boys chose kilts, they didn’t have much trouble with putting on traditional Scottish wedding outfit, paired with original wooden bow ties.
The couple decided to have humanist wedding ceremony with hand fasting . There was some rain after but it didn’t stop us from taking wedding photos outside. Evening reception took place in a marquee, there was plenty of Caribbean rum to drink from the ice sculpture and ceilidh dancing – so popular at multicultural weddings. We also lit the sparklers late in the evening – they look great on the photos. This was a wedding to remember.
