Riddle’s Court – an intimate wedding venue in the city
Riddle’s Court is another venue in Edinburgh that I wish to recommend. A picturesque merchant’s tenement situated on the Royal Mile, I often use it as a background for wedding photoshoots in Edinburgh. Each room has a different character. The Seton Room is used for small weddings and elopements, I love window booths for intimate portraits. The Geddes Room is used for larger ceremonies ( like Samantha & Padraig’s, see below ), it can seat up 60 guests. The Library Room is perfect for a wedding breakfast and evening dancing. There is also an accommodation for the couple, The King’s Chamber, a romantic apartment with it’s own kitchen.
Lastly, Riddle’s Court is a wedding venue that allows dogs !
A very relaxed wedding day
Samantha and Padraig’s wedding at Riddle’s Court was a celebration that embraced the unpredictable beauty of life. Despite the rain that accompanied their day, the atmosphere was filled with genuine joy and spontaneity. From the bridesmaid purchasing flowers on a whim the day before to the unexpected presence of the groom during the morning preparations. Opting for First Look photos in the morning, I could capture the couple’s genuine emotions. The confetti shot, originally planned for the outdoors, was moved indoors due to the persistent rain. The Best Man caught covid and couldn’t be there but we managed to take a photo of the boys together via FaceTime.
Every moment was an authentic charm. I truly appreciate weddings that aren’t meticulously planned to the last minute, as they allow for more authentic moments to unfold, making it a memorable and heartfelt experience.
