Borthwick Castle – majestic castle near Edinburgh
The last wedding of 2017 was a beautiful one. I got a chance to photograph Vanessa & Emanuele’s Italian wedding in the Scottish castle.
Borthwick Castle is a real castle – built in 15th century, it looks very different to other castles I know. First of all – steps. Many, many steps and small bedrooms. It is difficult to get lost when you are visiting for a first time! It’s famous residents include Mary Queen of Scots. One of the rooms is dedicated to her.
I have posted wedding photos from Borthwick Castle wedding before – see Alexandra & Rhuraidh’s day. Although I am based quite locally, this castle was a discovery for me.
Borthwick Castle wedding
It is always exciting For a wedding photographer to photograph wedding ceremonies which include traditions from other countries . I loved groom’s emotional reaction when he saw his bride walking down the aisle. Vanessa, who is a very talented photographer, looked amazing in Jenny Packham dress when she arrived for the humanist ceremony. The humanist, Lara Celini, performed the ceremony in Italian. There was lots of food ( seven courses or so! ), many toasts and great moments.
